The Musicians’ Union Band, Local 356, better known as the Ogden Rodeo Band, welcomed each horse or bull out of the chutes with music geared to the thud of the animal’s fee; or provided just the right background noise for the specialty acts. They were as traditional as the rodeo for many years. The drums used by the band with Ogden’s symbol of the Whoopee Girl – one painted by an amateur, and one by a professional – were acquired from James Williams, through the efforts of the Ogden Pioneer Heritage and Weber County Heritage Foundations.
